  • promote community actions for the climate and encourage mobilization around local solutions;
  • share proven climate experiences and initiatives;
  • create a space for collaboration and networking to foster sustainable partnerships.

Description of the event and its successes

1. Conference and experience sharing

The conference organised by CHL was chaired by Alexandre KOFFI, project coordinator, and introduced the theme of CLIM’ACT.It highlighted the importance of collective and individual commitment in the fight against climate change, particularly in West Africa. Climate experts and environmental activists shared their experiences and successes in natural resource conservation and agro-ecology projects.

2.Inspirational testimonial sessions

Local players and young climate leaders presented their projects, highlighting the successes and challenges in implementing solutions to climate change.CHL shared its local projects in sustainable land management and agroecology, illustrating the resilience of local communities to climate impacts.

3.Networking and partnership-building workshops

CLIM’ACT also enabled many participants to meet and exchange ideas at networking workshops. CHL was able to establish contacts with other organisations committed to the climate and initiate discussions on partnerships for field projects in West Africa, particularly in the fields of agroecology and environmental education.

CHL's specific contributions to COP29

CHL’s participation in COP29 reinforced its commitment as a Francophone player in the fight against climate change, and the organisation of CLIM’ACT had several positive spin-offs:

  • advocacy for climate action: CLIM’ACT was a platform to amplify the voice of West African communities and to advocate for increased resources for these developing regions;
  • sharing best practice: CLIM’ACT discussions enabled CHL to showcase its local initiatives as sustainable solutions adapted toafrican contexts;
  • promoting individual and collective commitment: A key message of CLIM’ACT was to remind everyone of their role in the fight against climate change, by adopting eco-responsible behaviour and sharing knowledge;
  • strengthening alliances and collaborations: thanks to the networking workshops, CHL expanded its network and created potential partnerships with other French-speaking and international players, with a view to strengthening climate resilience in Africa.

Change Human’s Life’s participation in COP29 helped to :

  • raise public awareness of the importance of local action to tackle climate change;
  • strengthen collaboration with French-speaking and international organisations, paving the way for new joint projects;
  • highlight the role of local communities in adapting to climate change.
